I found this dress at Marshall's for the low low! $24.99 in the juniors department! I was hesitant to show my tummy, but the cut was very flattering!
Other deets- Earrings and shoes are from fabrik in Carytown
Hair- Wash and go in the back using Shea Moisture products and flat twist out in the front where it won't freaking curl!

The Girl in the Yellow Dress
For about two weeks now I have been rockin' my God given kinks and coils out of curiosity and frugality. I started out with a flat twist out that turned into a semi-cute puff ball. When planning my look for my friend's wedding, I had to decide if I was going to blow it out or keep it kinky. I saw a bunch of cute natural styles on Pinterest, so I decided to try one out. It wasn't a total epic fail.
Here are the deets for the total look: Hair clips - Forever 21, Earrings - Francesca's, Dress - Ivy and Blu, Shoes - J Crew (old), Clutch- TJ Maxx (old)

And here's what I used on my face - Make up Forever HD foundation N177, Bare Minerals translucent powder, MAC Light-light powder Golden Nectar, MAC blush Format, MAC Lipstick Morange, MAC lipliner Redd, MAC eyebrow crayon Spiked, Wet n Wild Mega Liner liquid liner Black, L'oreal Telescopic mascara Blackest Black

Why be natural?
"So, why have natural hair if you're just going to straighten it?"
Because, I want to.
This should be a sufficient answer for people that want to know why I don't part with the flat iron. It's 2013, I live in the United States, I make my own money and I can do what I want. Point blank.
Am I denying my heritage and ancestry but taming my kinks and coils?
Am I attempting to conform to the majority's ideals of physical beauty?
Am I filled with with self-hatred?
NO! I'm really just kind of lazy...
It's so easy to go to the salon, get it blown out, and keep it moving. Every so often, I catch a glimpse of my kinks and coils right before my stylist blasts me with her magical blow dryer. At those moments, I am curious to try all the different curly styles and twist outs and bantu knots that I see on YouTube. But, alas, that's so much effort!
